| This
Nationals is truly an event for everyone at all skill levels
of sailing ability.
Whether you are new to the Star 45 or your
club "top dog" there is still a place for you at
this event. We will be using (based on # of entrants) a 3
fleet Regression / Progression System of racing (RPS). Under
RPS every one has an equal chance of winning every race. RPS
is great because it separates the top notch sailors from the
less skillful, placing equal ability races together. This
type of racing and having 3 fleets adds a lot of dynamics
to the event, allows everyone time to rest and relax, time
t watch the other boats race, and makes the event a lot more
"fun" for everyone of all abilities. So bring you
A sailors' but also bring your B guys as this event not only
will be very educational for them, but a heck of a lot of
fun too! |
Measurement: Measurement
will be conducted, at the time of registration, on a random basis,
as determined by the Regatta Director.
Schedule of Events: Registration
will be at the Race Site on September 14, 2007, with either team
or practice racing that afternoon. The regatta will begin on September
15, 2007 and continue through September 16, 2007. (Any racing canceled
due to inclement weather may be made up on September 16, 2007,at
the discretion of the Regatta Director.) See Schedule
of events.
Sailing Instructions: -
Frequency Assignments: A copy of the Sailing Instructions, frequency
assignments, maps and schedule will be mailed to all entrants, after
the close of entries. This electronic notice is in advance of the
formal mailing notice, which will include all the rules, policies
and details of the regatta. The attachment, here enclosed, provides
some general and communications information.
Regatta Site: The regatta
site will be at Deweese in the Stillwater Park of Dayton, Ohio.
See driving directions.
Sail Numbering: The visibility
and readability of your sails will be scrutinized and/or tested
during check-in. We are going to have the oldest staff personnel
wearing glasses make the observations.
Prizes: In addition to the
Perpetual Fleet Racing trophy to first place, AMYA gold chevrons
will be awarded to the three top finishing positions and individual
trophies to the top five finishers.
There will be no appeal of a protest committee decision if that
appeal could affect any boat’s promotion or relegation.
Star
45's are available for Charter!
If you would like to
race in the Nationals but do not own a Star 45 or if you
are flying in and would rather borrow a bout rather than
ship your own... then we do have a number of boats available
for the event.
If interested, please
contact John Emery
or Steve Pratt.
